First part in a series of posts about poetry.
An acrostic is a poem or other form of writing in which the first letter, syllable or word of each line, paragraph or other recurring feature in the text spells out a word or a message

Mythical Surprise

(an acrostic by: Joe P. Attanasio)

A cheerfulness surrounds thee

Beautiful for all to see

Love and peace we must agree

Underneath a mighty plea

Everything is shiny bright

Bringing joy, your delight

In the dark you shine a light

Rather love than fight

Deep happiness you show

Often prosperity you grow

Full of life, we know

Hearth and home you sow

And good health you bring

People want to sing

Positive thoughts you fling

In a word you are spring

Never let my spirits fall

Every day you enthrall

Symbolic for one and all

Simple acrostic I scrawl
